200 economists say no to corporate bailout under CARES Act

1/24/2021

I commend Professor [Jonathan B.] Berk and the dozens of other academicians who stood up to corporate welfare on behalf of working people. Said Anat R. Admati: "This bill is sad commentary on the financialization of our economy." Wow. What a way to put it. At the time, I contacted some dozen small businesses about a major news outlet offering free listings to those selling gift cards. I'll take the word of Jonathan Parker (MIT): Major corporations have the resource of bankruptcy to stay afloat.

Discrepancy with Green presidential candidate: my correspondence, II

Note: The following is only an excerpt from an email I sent on Jan. 15. A .pdf copy of the full email is available for download at your own risk.
I'm following up on my initial email to you on January 5. The County Election Office misrepresented dozens of votes for an independent and a Green Party candidate in the November election.

The independent candidate, <Redacted>, was a [sic] challeger to the Democratic rep for District 103. Some voters -- including myself -- wrote his name as <Redacted>. However, there's no record of it in the results you emailed me. In addition, the Office recorded dozens of votes for Howie Hawkins as "Howard" Hawkins. He was the Green Party nominee for president.

Again, I request that the dozens of votes for <Redacted> and Howie Hawkins receive official documentation and reporting. I hope to follow-up with you on this matter next week.

Discrepancy with Green presidential candidate: my correspondence

Note: The following is only an excerpt from an email sent Jan. 5. A .pdf copy of the full email is available for download at your own risk.

<Redacted>,

I'm a certified poll watcher for the 2020 General Election here in Dauphin County. In December, I requested some of the write-in results from the Election Office. There are three known discrepancies I request that the Office correct. They are as follows:

DISCREPANCY 1
President/Vice President
Howie Hawkins, a Green Party candidate, is listed as "Howard" Hawkins in "Howard Hawkins/Angela Walker." If necessary, I'll provide you a copy of my own ballot for comparison.

DISCREPANCY 2
President
Howie Hawkins is again listed as "Howard" Hawkins. As an affiliate of the county Green Party, I have yet to confirm any voters in the area who wrote him in as Howard.

DISCREPANCY 3
State Rep, District 103
Kelvin Maxson, an independent candidate, is only listed as "Kevin" Maxson. However, some voters wrote him in as "Kelvin" Maxson. The sample ballot in the Democratic Primary also listed him as Kelvin.

I hope to follow up with you on this matter next week.
