8 Q's for State College Borough in death of Penn State professor's son

Osaze Osagie was killed in 2019 by an officer serving him a mental health warrant. It was the first fatal shooting by police in State College history. Some of the details I don't remember, including those below. Here are the questions I'd ask defendants of the suit brought by his estate:

  1. Two members of the Rock Ethics Institute at Penn State said Osagie was shot twice in the back. In what location(s) of the body was he shot?
  2. The knife with which Osagie charged officers was found near his body. How many of Pieniazek's spent shell casings were found as well?
  3. The Borough has described Osagie's death as "suicide by cop." Does the Borough dispute his cause of death as described in the coroner's report? Why or why not?
  4. The Borough argues that Osagie's father neglected to warn police that his son would attempt "suicide by cop." In what material or curriculum had the elder Osagie train the department on police-assisted suicide?
  5. Recent PennLive reports indicate that officers responded to Osagie on repeat, violent occasions. Was this repeat violence a lethal threat to officers before? (If not, ignore question #6.)
  6. How did Osagie's lethal threat of violence differ in March 2019 than in prior incidents?
  7. There were three responding officers at Osagie's apartment that night. Is there audio or video evidence of their encounter with him?
  8. And how long was the encounter between Osagie and the responding officers?
  • The police or the department is in reference to the State College Police Department.
  • The Borough is in reference to State College Borough.
  • The responding officers is in reference to Robb; Hill; and Jordan Pieniazek, who fired the fatal shot.
  • The defendants is in reference to the responding officers, the State College Borough, the State College Police Department, and its Capt. Christian Fishel.
