Note: A copy of the June email sent to members of the Harrisburg NAACP Environmental Committee.
I hope you're staying cool and hydrated, as temperatures are expected to reach the 90s in coming days.
The NAACP's constitution outlines the "enactment and enforcement" of the law at all levels, among other means, as one of its objectives. In accordance, the Environmental Committee's fire-prevention efforts aim to:
1) Produce a 15-minute educational cartoon (more or less) for implementation into the curricula of the Harrisburg School District.
2) Advocate the Fire Department and the Harrisburg Bureau of Building and Housing schedule periodic inspections of residential structures at greatest risk for non-arson fires in the Borough.
I'll update you by July 15 with draft questions about the Fire Department's inspection procedures, its professional and voluntary needs for Borough inspectors, and related questions.
Until next time,
Chair | Environmental Committee
