"Like That" by Shy Glizzy features Jeremih and Ty Dolla $ign. This has been my song for the last week or so.
The beat is a slower tempo and a pick-like bass line, but it reminds me of "Get the Bag" by Gucci Mane (feat. Migos). Jeremih is like the new R. Kelly on the last three hooks I've heard him on -- including this one -- and it's the hook that caught my attention first. Ty Dolla $ign, on the other hand, is bringing background vocals back to R&B verses, and that's what caught my attention next. Despite two R&B singers, it's Shy Glizzy's track, and it's he who kicks off the first verse. I'ma take her out The Hyundai Take her to The Elliantte Bussin' the Roll-ie I like that line -- it's lyrical. But Glizzy's ad-libs suggest the same is true for his whole verse. His voice has a little Bootsie Collins vibe or flare to it. What I like about his actual verse is the vibrato with which he punctuates each rhyme. It's creyy-zee. "Like That" by Shy Glizzy: All around great collab and great production.

My mother had one of Dickey's books -- one of the ones with the animated covers -- and that's how I first knew about him. I didn't follow his work much, but I read A Wanted Woman on audiobook at the time it came out. That was about six years ago.
The story wasn't bad. It was even a little edgy, especially the language. A couple of things about the book (well, the audiobook) that stuck with me were the repeated references to "the Kiwi" -- the main character -- and the narration. Zoë Bell performed some of the best voice-over work I ever heard in fiction, and Eric Jerome Dickey authored its script. Dickey died three days ago; I found out last night. He was 59.
